My weekend in Winnipeg

Wow, what a fun weekend. In case you didn't know I went to Winnipeg this weekend. We left on Friday at about 11 am, and drove a long, long way to Canada. There is absolutely nothing to look at the entire way. We joke that we could see Minnesota, California, Texas, and the North pole all at the same time. There's no trees. We didn't have any problems at the border, and it was kind of a culture shock to some of my friends, they've never seen the metric system being used before. But we made it to Winnipeg fine. We got there during rush hour, that was crazy. It took a while to get to our hotel, because of the traffic. We saw about 50 A & W's (I swear there's one every 100 feet, same with McDonalds). We pulled up to the hotel, the Howard Johnson Inn, and it looked awful. The front wasn't painted and the back still had the old colors on it (they were remodeling). The back had pink tiles and tan bricks (it was ugly), and we were worried about what our rooms would look like. So 2 of my friends went to check in, and when they came back to the car to get our stuff, they told us that the room looked awful. I was fearing the worst, but when we got in the room it was awesome. It was huge! (For a hotel room) there was so much space. It was pretty neat, we had a fridge and a microwave, and a coffemaker. We got settled in, and we wanted to call one of the clubs we thought we might venture out to, but the phone didn't work. That was crazy. They came and fixed the next day. We ate Domino's and sat around for a while. At around 10:30, we went to the Club in our hotel. It was a country club, but they didn't play all country music. They had an actual live band, it was so cool. We danced to a few songs, and since all of us are single girls, we checked out the cowboys that were there, and the cute security guards.

On Saturday, we took our own tour of Winnipeg, my friends wanted to find Chinatown. We had to go through downtown to get there. Those were the biggest buildings I've ever seen, my friends were laughing at how amused I was with the height of the buildings. It was so cool. So, we were looking for chinatown, but the road kept going on, and we kept getting farther and farther from where we thought we were supposed to be. We ended up in a small town on the outskirts of Winnipeg, before we realized we went to far. So we drove back and did end up finding Chinatown, but my friends were disappointed when the found out it was only about 2 blocks. So we went back downtown, and ate at a mall, they had a good Pizza place there. I bought a T-Shirt at the mall, it's pretty cute it says: "Canada Eh?" Then we were gonna go and look for the club we wanted to go to that night, but we ended up getting lost, there were to many one ways, and my friend accidentally turned the wrong way, and got pretty upset, so we went back to the hotel and took naps. We ran across the road to the Coop for supper, it wasn't the best. Later that night we went to Club 3D because it was Kareoke night, and my friends wanted to sing. It wasn't a very exciting place, but my friends did sing (I didn't). We went back to the club from the night before, and listend to the same band. They were pretty good and we had tons of fun.

We left Winnipeg at 11, and headed for home. We stopped at a Subway in Middle of Nowhere Manitoba, and I saw some guys wearing some BSU shirts, but I didnt get a chance to talk to them before they left. I had one of those new toasted subs, it was pretty good. They have some different flavors of chips there, it was kinda odd for me. We got back across the boarder just fine, and got back at about 3:45. Well that was exciting huh?

I'm putting my pics on a website, but my computer is too slow, so I'll get them for you in a few days. Bye for now.

Ate at Subway eh? I knew there was something I liked about you! I noticed on Patsy's blog the Subway in the background.
